Colour your autumn look-
Autumn heralds the beginning of the colder weather, and with that comes the inevidable change in our skin and hair. As the winter chills approach, we are faced with the challange to readjust, prepare and protect (yes, SPF is not just for summer), our delicate visage.
So what is the fashion columns predicting for autumn and winter? Black is Back, or is it? Lets go back to black.... these are always strong headlines in all the style and fashion magazines; but does it really enhance your look, or detract from making you look good?
With the rapid rise in availability and accessability of plastic surgery and surgically enhanced prodedures such as botox et al, it seems that prehaps, we have overlooked the most obvious of all possible ways in which we can achieve the simplest of all face lifts- the answer of course, is to wear the most flattering colours that suit your complextion and colouring next to your face and neck.
With the vibrant shades of purple, orange and gold, to name only a few, there is so much more to autumn and winter fashion than the dark cool tones of black, (even though they will always have their place). Check out Hermes website for truely inspiational ideas and classicaly vibrant themes on colour- hermes.com.
You can create your autumn and winter look by visualising new ways with your wardrobe colour mix that will take years off your appearance- it's simply a matter of taking a fresh pair of eyes to your wardrobe and make-up bag, and trying colours that will make the most of you.
Ideas for colour can be found everywhere. Some of my current favourites include the littlewoodsdirect.com website, especially their great new lovelabel - here you will find some great faux fur and big boots, both of which are great with their bright and colourful peasant dresses. They also have a great purple Kimono sleeve dress (about £39.00), which will just fly off the shelves.
Zara currently is doing colour really well, as are Reiss. Reiss do all the work for you. It's so easy to find colour groups in Reiss as they lay them out in the best colourways that work together, and they are always bang on with fashion colours for the season. I usually find the staff here really helpful in advising with the most suitable colourway for your look. Not everyone will suit every fashion shade this season, and it is a mistake to wear something that does not compliment your colouring, or it will end up wearing you.
Hobbs is another favourite- they have branches located in Ballymena, and one on the Lisburn Road in Belfast, and also in the new Victoria Shopping Centre in Belfast city centre. Their new season styles presents a great range of colours, which also extends to co-ordinate with some beautifully soft and colourful scarves and pashminos. Bison, also on the Lisburn Road, are currently stocking some great metalics and accessories in jewel shades that are really worth checking out to complete the look.
When you want to change or up-date your image, then the best place to start is with colour. When your clothes are in harmony with your colouring, it helps to smooth and clarify your complexion, soften lines, minimize shadows and gives an overall healthy glow- all of which will also make you look younger. Ultimately, your wardrobe for the season ahead should contain colours that harmonize with each other, and also with your own individual colouring.
